Wearing Art: My New Creative Adventure on Clothing

Lately, my studio has been expanding beyond the canvas—and honestly, I couldn’t be more excited about it.

If you’ve followed my work for a while, you know I’ve always loved experimenting with different mediums. Painting has never felt like something that should stay in one place or one format. It wants to move, to evolve, to show up in unexpected ways. That curiosity is what led me to start painting on denim jackets—and from the moment I put paint to fabric, I was hooked.

There’s something incredibly fun (and a little rebellious) about turning everyday clothing into wearable art. A denim jacket becomes a canvas, but it’s also something that moves through the world, carried by someone else’s energy. It’s no longer just something to hang on a wall—it becomes part of someone’s story.

What started with jackets has quickly grown. I’ve been exploring other articles of clothing, testing how paint, texture, and movement translate onto different fabrics. Each piece is completely unique—layered, expressive, and full of personality. I approach it the same way I do my paintings: starting with energy, letting go of perfection, and allowing something unexpected to emerge.

This new medium feels alive in a different way. It’s playful, a little unpredictable, and it pushes me creatively, which is exactly where I love to be.

If you’d like to see these wearable pieces (and trust me, they’re even better in person), I’d love for you to follow along on Instagram at @amylantermanart where I share new work, behind-the-scenes moments, and upcoming pieces. You can also check out my events calendar to see where I’ll be showing both my artwork and clothing in person.

I have a feeling this is just the beginning of something really fun. And I’m so glad you’re here for it.
