The Artist Statement
The Heart Behind the Canvas: My Artist Statement
Creating art has always been a part of who I am, something inherent, joyful, and a little bit messy in the best way. But as I’ve grown into this new chapter of life as a full-time artist, I’ve come to realize that the real magic of art isn’t just in the process or the finished piece. It’s in the connections it creates.
When someone stops to ask about a painting, shares how a piece makes them feel, or tells me about the art they create themselves, it always leaves me so inspired. Whether it’s a conversation at a local show here in Tucson or a message from someone across the country who stumbled onto my work online, those moments of connection are incredibly meaningful.
I’m not painting for recognition, trends, or mass production, I’m painting to share something real and meaningful. I want to spark conversation, to build community, and maybe even to remind someone of their own creativity.
So while I love experimenting with colors, textures, and have discovered how to use natural materials (ask me about the time I glued a wasp nest to a canvas), the heart of my work will always be about people. The stories we carry, the beauty we notice, and the ways we make each other feel seen.
Art is how I speak, and when it speaks to someone else? That’s the best kind of conversation.
